Spooky Action at a Distance
A downloadable game
Based on plot ARMOR by DC, and inspired by films like Contact, Arrival, and Annihilation.
News of the event leaked slowly at first. Then it spread across the Earth like wildfire. The world ground to a halt. Students stopped going to classes. People stopped showing up to work. The governments and scientists of the world scrambled to find answers.
First Contact united humanity in awe. The United Nations held emergency sessions every day. Every news channel showed the same footage and asked the same questions. What was the alien? What did the alien want? Was anything going to be the same again?
Eventually we selected a representative: the envoy. Perhaps it was the result of a short but intense search, perhaps they were already at the top of a very short list, or perhaps they were just at the right place at the right time. Whoever they were, humanity sent them toward the alien, the weight of our desperate curiosity on their shoulders.
Spooky Action at a Distance is a single-player tabletop roleplaying game about humanity’s first contact with alien life. You’ll create the circumstances of first contact including the method of interaction and humanity’s base camp. You’ll then create your character, the envoy, who will attempt to interact with the alien. You’ll write about first contact, what the envoy discovers about the alien, and define the alien as you play.
To play the game you will need these rules, 2 six-sided dice (referred to as 1d6 or 2d6), and a journal to record your sessions. Sheets for creating your setting and recording each session are provided for you to print and use as you play the game.
